Digital Literacy Officer (Code: 065 - DLO – DIGITANI)

General Position Summary

The Digital Literacy Officer will work closely with the ROOTS Program Coordinator to design strategies and implement training and mentoring activities to establish digital-based climate change adaptation communities and strengthen digital literacy and skills through hybrid (online and offline) approaches. These efforts aim to achieve the DIGITANI program milestones and targets. The activities will equip 300 participants to actively use the DCEWS in their regular farming practices, as well as other essential toolkits such as digital marketing, financial services, and cybersecurity. Implementation will be conducted in close collaboration with key Dairi Regency Government agencies, including the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Environment Agency, Agriculture Agency, and Community and Village Empowerment Agency (DPMD); the Regional Center for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Region I Medan (BBMKG Wilayah 1 Medan); Financial Services Providers (FSPs); coffee farmer communities; vulnerable communities; and other relevant stakeholders.

Essential Job Responsibilities

STRATEGY AND PLANNING

  • Work with the Program Coordinator to establish a digital-based climate change adaptation community in three villages.
  • Develop strategies, workplans, training modules, and IEC materials for ToT facilitators, and deliver training to program participants on BMKG’s Digital Climate Early Warning System (DCEWS), cybersecurity toolkits, financial literacy, financial inclusion, and digital marketing channels.
  • Develop strategies and workplans to provide mentoring to program participants on the use of BMKG’s DCEWS, cybersecurity toolkits, financial literacy, financial inclusion, and digital marketing channels.
  • Work with the Program Officer to conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) for facilitators on BMKG’s DCEWS, Cybersecurity toolkits, financial literacy, financial inclusion, and digital marketing channels.
  • Monitor facilitators in delivering training and mentoring (hybrid model) to program participants on BMKG’s DCEWS, Cybersecurity toolkits, financial literacy, financial inclusion, and digital marketing channels.
  • Collaborate with FSPs partners to improve coffee farmers’ access to financial products and services, including digital financial services and through agent networks.
  • Compile data and information as per program requirements and contribute to the preparation of reports, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Complete any necessary administrative requirements.
  • Share insights and perspectives based on observations and interactions with community members, colleagues, and stakeholders to contribute to program learning documentation.

  • Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work.

  • Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Environment, Digital, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in DRR/CCA, livelihood, or digitization programs at the community level.
  • Experience collaborating with national, provincial, and/or regency government agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating trainings and workshops.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with Financial Services Providers (FSPs).
  • Experience working with private companies or private foundation donors.
